Description
// WHAT_IS_BAC_5ML
Bacteriostatic Water (BAC) is 0.9% benzyl alcohol in sterile water for injection. The benzyl alcohol acts as a bacteriostatic agent — inhibiting bacterial growth so the solution can be re-entered multiple times without contamination. It is the standard diluent used in peptide and protein research for reconstituting lyophilized (freeze-dried) powders into injectable solutions.
// RESEARCH_PATHWAYS
BAC serves one primary function but enables three critical research outcomes:
- Stable Reconstitution: Benzyl alcohol preserves reconstituted peptides at refrigerator temperature for weeks, vs. plain sterile water which degrades rapidly
- Multi-Dose Utility: The preserved formulation allows repeated needle entry into the vial without introducing contamination — essential for extended research protocols
- pH Compatibility: Neutral pH is compatible with the majority of research-grade peptides including BPC-157, TB-500, CJC-1295, and others in our catalog

// COMMON_PROTOCOLS
Standard research protocol: add 1-2mL of BAC water to a lyophilized peptide vial, allow to dissolve by swirling gently (do not shake). Concentration and volume used depends on the specific peptide and desired dosage per injection. One 5mL vial is typically sufficient to reconstitute multiple research peptide vials. Store reconstituted solutions at 2-8C.
// THE_EVIDENCE_PICTURE
Bacteriostatic water is a well-established pharmaceutical-grade solvent with decades of use in clinical and research settings. It is not a research compound itself — it is an enabling agent. Its properties (sterility, bacteriostatic preservation, pH neutrality) are thoroughly characterized in the literature.
